It’s “HI-nz.” But to their credit my grandfather’s family dropped the “e” to make it easier for Americans to pronounce back when they came over here in the 50s. Irony.  ——— My last name is vaguely similar to ‘Chernobyl’ but it’s got BOTH a v and a z in it, and the emphasis is on the first syllable instead of in the middle, and it’s always, always, always fucked up — half the time with letters and sounds that aren’t even in it. I don’t want to say exactly what it is, because basically if I post my last name, anyone and their dog could find me. Anyone that comes up in a Google search of it is either me or an immediate family member. 8| I just go by ‘Leah C.’ everywhere to avoid name issues. I never realized that “Devynn Ferrero” sounds just like “Divine Fiero”, “Derrin Farrow”, and “Desmond Fargo.” Dzurilla.  It’s always fun to hear people try.  :)
